The inaugural champions of National Football League – JCT are relegated and shall be plying their trade in the second division next season.

Being locked on 24 points alongside Air India, HAL SC and ONGC, their head-to-head came to +7, which was inferior to that to Air India (+11) and HAL SC (+8), and same as ONGC.

JCT, known for producing young talent season after season, have been relegated and technical director Sukhwinder Singh expressed his displeasure over the same.

“This is the first time we have been relegated and it’s certainly disappointing.

“What can we say at this moment – I do not want to blame anyone for this.

“Last year, several good players left for other clubs,” said Sukhwinder.

Due to an inferior goal difference to ONGC, JCT have finished at the bottom of the I-League table. JCT have scored the least number of goals this season – 17.
