Rajeev Piramal
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had set up an AFC Ad Hoc Committee for Indian football in order to address the issues concerning the development of the game in the 132nd ranked nation.

The Committee is chaired by AFC president Mohamed Bin Hammam with the president of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Praful Patel being the vice-president.

Alan Durante, who was the president of Mahindra United which decided to disband the team, was also part of the committee and had stated his intention of continuing so.

With the Jeepmen not existing any more in the Indian football scenario, Praful Patel opined that Durante's place in the committee must be replaced by another high ranking official from the western zone.

The name of Rajeev Piramal, co-founder Pune FC, was thereby suggested and the latest development being that the football governing body of Asia having approved of the same.

Pune FC have made a great impact since its initiation in Indian football back in 2007 having two training fields of their own which most of the I-League clubs can’t boast of.

Larsing Sawyan, the owner of Shillong Lajong is also one of the members in the committee but with the north eastern club going down to second division I-League, his future in the elite group is up in the air as well with Praful Patel expected to have a final say on it.

The AFC is to send a delegation to India prior to their expected visit in October in order to conduct another round of talks with the AFC Ad Hoc Committee members for Indian football.
