After listing nominations and picking winners in several positions to honour the best players from this season’s I-League, Goal.com now selects the team of the season.
We choose the eleven best players keeping in mind the 3+1 foreigner and one PIO rule.
Formation: 4-4-2
Goalkeeper:
Subrata Paul (Pune FC)
Defenders:

Mr. Dependable
Valeriano Rebello (Dempo)

Rock-Solid Ravanan
Dharmaraj Ravanan (Mahindra United)

Captain Fantastic
Luciano Sabrosa (Salgaocar)

Uzbek Mozart
Sergey Tokov (Pune FC)
Midfielders:

Mr.Consistency
Anthony Pereira (Dempo)

Complete Midfielder
Ogba Kalu Nnanna (Churchill Brothers)

Indian War Horse
Sushant Matthew (Mahindra United)

Prolific Winger
Izumi Arata (Pune FC)
Forwards:

Salgaocar's Saviour
Ekene Ikenwa (Salgaocar)

Best Among Indians
Mohammed Rafi (Mahindra United)
Lineup:

So I-League debutants Pune FC and the disbanded Mahindra United side have the maximum representation with three players each in the lineup.
Champions Dempo and Salgaocar, who finished sixth, have two players each while runners-up Churchill have one player in the eleven.
Interestingly only three national team members from the 2011 Asian Cup probables list – Subrata Paul, Anthony Pereira and Mohammed Rafi- are present in the lineup.
