I-League U-19: Sporting Clube De Goa Crowned U-19 I-League Champions

Sporting clube de Goa emerged champions in the U-19 I League championship for I-League teams, with a hard fought 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over local favorites King Fisher East Bengal.
The exciting match played today at the East Bengal grounds and witnessed by a packed house. Both teams played 90 minutes of regulation, and 30 minutes of extra time without scoring, thus sending the match into the penalty shoot out.
In the tie-breaker it was the Sporting boys who held their nerves better braving the partisan crowd and slotted home all their first four kicks through Pritam Singh, Pedro Gonslaves, Reliston Fernandes and Joston Pereira. Sporting keeper Koushik Ghosh brilliantly saved one East Bengal kick and another was shot out to give Sporting Clube de Goa their maiden Under-19 Championship. Sporting also happens to be the first Goan club to win this prestigious youth Championship.
Team: Koushik Ghosh, Reliston Fernandes, Gary D’Mello,Joyner Lourenco, Joel Martins, Mackenze Fernandes, Mackroy Peixote, Valerian Rodrigues, Joston Pereira, Pritam Singh and Valzinho Fernandes. Substitutes: Pedro Gonsalves for Mackroy, Stephen Barretto for Valzinho and Royston Carneiro for Mackenze. Other Substitutes: Randell Dias, D.C. Cardozo, Rowlin Borges, Xamaro Rodrigues, F. D’Souzaand O Rodrigues.
Coach: Severino Fernandes, Manager: Franky Fernandes, Physio: Gurdeep Singh.
