The exciting match played today at the East Bengal grounds and witnessed by a packed house. Both teams played 90 minutes of regulation, and 30 minutes of extra time without scoring, thus sending the match into the penalty shoot out.
In the tie-breaker it was the Sporting boys who held their nerves better braving the partisan crowd and slotted home all their first four kicks through Pritam Singh, Pedro Gonslaves, Reliston Fernandes and Joston Pereira. Sporting keeper Koushik Ghosh brilliantly saved one East Bengal kick and another was shot out to give Sporting Clube de Goa their maiden Under-19 Championship. Sporting also happens to be the first Goan club to win this prestigious youth Championship.
