I-League: Sporting Clube De Goa Ask The Match Commissioner To Reconsider The Cards Given To Samananda And Junior
Please reconsider...
By Rahul Bali
Sporting Clube De Goa have requested the match commissioner to reconsider the cards dished out against them in the 21st round I-League match against Churchill Brothers on Saturday as Samananda Singh was sent-off while Junior Elijah also found his name in the referee's book.
The Goan side has finally struck the right chord towards the end of the season winning their last three matches and thus, have a spirit about them which they don’t want to lose. The club intends to keep the winning combination intact and hence have made an unusual request to the match commissioner.
While Samananda Singh received his second booking for almost nothing for which Churchill were awarded the penalty with Kalu Nnanna throwing himself on ground tripping over the defender’s leg inside the box in the 85th minute.
“We have made a request to the match commissioner to look at the video footage of the game and just reconsider the decision of the referee. Whatever decision he takes, we will abide by it.
“But it can be clearly seen that Samananda didn’t do anything in the penalty incident. Junior is a key player for us in the coming games and a yard for him for wasting time wasn’t just,” opined the club’s vice-president, Victor Fernandes.
Sporting next faces Dempo SC in yet another Goan derby to keep their hopes of saving the season alive.
