I-League: Team Of The Week - Round 19
Goal.com India looks at all those who impressed in Round 19 of the I-League....
By Goal.com India
Formation: 3-4-3
Best XI
Goalkeeper:
Arnab Das Sharma (Air India)- The 21 year old goalkeeper has been in good touch in recent rounds and he continued his impressive form with a commanding display against Lajong. He produced a number of important saves and was unfortunate not to keep a clean sheet.
Defenders:
Samananda Singh (Sporting Clube de Goa)- The right back looked very lively in the derby win over Salgaocar. He looked very strong defensively and got forward a number of times to support the attack which gave Salgaocar’s left side a lot of problems.
Peter Odafe (Air India)- Odafe had a very solid outing at the heart of the Air India defence in the stalemate against Shillong Lajong. The former Mohun Bagan defender dominated the aerial battles and made quite a few important interceptions.
Charles Dzisah (Viva Kerala)- The Ghanaian defender has improved with every game this season and against Chirag he produced another strong performance. He gave Chirag’s top scorer Joshimar a very tough game and limited the Kolkata club to very few chances.
Midfielders:
Lalrindika Ralte (Churchill Brothers)- The former India Under-19 international was one of Churchill’s best players in the 6-0 drubbing of JCT. His pace and crosses made it very difficult for the JCT defence and the youngster also got on the scoresheet to cap off a fine display.
Adil Khan (Sporting Clube de Goa)- The 21 year old has made a huge impact for Sporting in the second half of the season. The defender once again played in midfield and produced a super performance and also bagged his second goal of the season.
Svetozar Mijin (Mahindra United)- The Serbian came on in the second half and played at left midfield, a move which paid dividends as Mahindra looked a much better side after a lackluster first half display. Therefore Mijin did prove to be the super sub which might earn him a start in the next game.
C. Sirajudden (Viva Kerala)- The right footed midfielder produced a man of match performance from the left flank. He scored his fourth goal of the season and caused a lot of problems for the Chirag backline with his passing and movement.
Forwards:
Edmar Figueira (Pune FC)- The Brazilian scored a couple of goals to guide Pune to a come from behind away win over Mumbai FC. Edmar hasn’t looked clinical at times this season but he has produced some match winning displays and the performance against Mumbai was certainly one of them.
Junior Elijah (Sporting Clube de Goa)- The Nigerian is hitting form at the right time for Sporting with three goals in his last two matches. The brace against local rivals Salgaocar proved that on his day Junior can be a match winner for the Flaming Oranje.
Muritala Ali (Mahindra United)- The Nigerian isn’t the biggest foreign name in Indian football but that might change after this season as his double over Dempo gave Mahindra another vital victory and also took his tally to 15 for the season.
Special Mentions
Odafa Okolie (Forward, Churchill Brothers)- The Churchill skipper made the most of some wonderful midfield service and poor JCT defending by scoring two goals which makes him the current joint top scorer along with Muritala.
Ashim Biswas (Forward, Chirag United)- The former India striker continued his revival by scoring the equalizer against Viva to make it three goals in four matches.
Felix Chimaokwu (Forward, Churchill Brothers)- Felix was adjudged man of the match for scoring one and setting up a few other goals in the big win over JCT.
