I-League: Mahindra Have The Best Goal Difference; Nigerians Dominate Individual Goalscoring Chart
Time for some facts & figures again....

Nine players have scored 10 or more goals and six of them are Nigerians. Mohammed Rafi is the only Indian in this category with eleven goals to his name. Churchill skipper Odafa Okolie and Mahindra’s Muritala Ali are the joint top scorers with 15 goals each.
League leaders Mahindra United have lost the least number (1) of matches and have the best goal difference (+20). Dempo are the only team to have won 10 games this season and have scored the maximum (40) goals. I-League debutants Shillong Lajong have the worst goal difference (-12).
Dempo have lost twice in Goa against local rivals Churchill and Salgaocar but they were the away side for both of those matches therefore they are the only team without a home defeat. Mahindra are the only side who haven’t lost on their travels while bottom placed Sporting Clube de Goa are still without a home win as the they were the away team when they beat Salgaocar in Goa.
Two of the four promoted clubs – Pune FC & Viva Kerala are in the top half of the table while the other two – Salgaocar and Shillong Lajong are in the bottom half. With a 1-1 draw against Air India, Viva have have now matched Pune’s seven match unbeaten run. Salgaocar still haven't won outside Goa while Lajong are the joint lowest scorers along with JCT with 17 goals each.
Mahindra United and Pune FC have the joint best defensive record having conceded only 17 goals each although Pune have played one game less. Mahindra and JCT have jointly kept the most number (7) of clean sheets. While Dempo and Sporting Clube de Goa have managed only one clean sheet each.
355 goals have been scored in 132 matches at an average of 2.69 per game. The round that produced the most goals was round 5. 25 goals were scored in seven matches of that round.
Churchill Brothers, Pune FC and the bottom two sides – Mumbai FC and Sporting Clube de Goa have drawn the maximum (8) games. Mohun Bagan have the managed the least number (4) of draws. 1-1 has been the most common scoreline with 25 matches ending that way.
Ogba Kalu Nnanna of Churchill is the top scorer among midfielders with six goals to his name. Venkatesh of Pune, Churchill’s Vashum, Marcos Pereira of Mohun Bagan, Climax Lawrence of Dempo and Viva's Sirajudeen all have four goals each. Air India fullback Ravinder Singh is the highest scorer among defenders with three goals. Lajong’s Daniel also has three but he hasn’t played in defence for the majority of the season.
Air India have conceded the maximum number (33) of goals while JCT ‘s 0-6 drubbing against Churchill is the heaviest defeat of the season. Shillong Lajong are the only club to have conceded four or more goals in three matches. Churchill, East Bengal, Chirag and Air India have conceded four or more on two occasions.
It took Sporting 17 matches to end their winless start while Mahindra and Churchill were unbeaten in the first eleven games of the season. Mumbai FC have been part of both unbeaten and winless streaks. They didn’t lose a game between round 2 and 11 but currently are without a win in eight matches.
