I-League: Howrah Might Not Host An I-League Match Again
The worst fears come true...
By Rahul Bali
The first I-League match hosted between Mohun Bagan and Pune FC turned out to be a nightmare as stoned were pelted and even a plastic chair was directed at a player from the visiting side.
Such behaviour isn’t new in the City of Joy, which hasn't been providing the players with much joy recently, thanks to instances of ruffian behaviour.
The Indian FA shall review the report sent by match commissioner Nayar and shall review whether or not to host matches at the Howrah Stadium in future.
Meanwhile, the AIFF has requested all the organisers of the I-League matches to get rid of the iron support behind the goal posts. The decision came following the horrendous error by a referee by disallowing Pune FC’s Edmar a goal where the ball came off the inside off the iron buttress.
