I-League: We May Lose The I-League Due To Confusion- Dempo SC Coach Armando Colaco
Dempo coach blasts IFA ahead of Chirag match
By Rahul Sengupta
After almost threatening the Indian Football Association (WB) to pull out of the match, Dempo SC were back on the training ground on Tuesday as they held a two hours long training session at the Kolkata Rangers ground.
The crucial I-league encounter against Chirag which got rescheduled for three times is the only objective now for the entire Dempo line up. A victory from tomorrow’s match will see the former champions go on top of the League. Dempo how ever have left some key players back in Goa.
Foreign Recruits Ranty Martins and Beto are sidelined for this week meanwhile Anwar Ali too is unavailable for selection. With so many problems in front of him Goal.com caught up with coach Armando Colaco.
Speaking about his team combination he said, “We are in a difficult position I know. But we are a team who are not always dependant on the stars. We build a team with 35 members so when one player is injured we always have two players backing up for him. So it is nothing new for us as we are used to missing players due to cards and injuries and last minute fever.”
Dempo defender Valentino Rebello also will be unavailable for the match as he is down with food poisoning. But what is more concerning for Armando Colaco is the recent turbulence in the I-League fixture. So many changes in the venue and dates are really taking a toll on the players.
Speaking about this issue coach Colaco remarked, “It is very frustrating for us. I was unaware of the frequent venue changes. I was informed that the match will be played on Sunday at Barasat. So we started training at the University ground. No one ever informed us that the match was rescheduled and will now take place in Salt Lake stadium.
“Due to this we were not able to train at Chowgule in the artificial turf. I am very stunned more than that I am confused because we play a match tomorrow and then again within 3 days we have to play our next round match.
“We might even lose the I-League due to this confusion as there is no clear set of instructions and information available”.
