I-League: I'm Not Satisfied With The Way The I-League Is Run - Chirag United's Subrata Bhattacharya

Chirag coach expresses his views on frequent venue and date changes in I-league.

After a few rounds of meeting by the Indian Football Association (IFA), which is the state football governing body for West Bengal, came to a stand of postponing the tenth round I-League clash between Chirag United and Dempo SC.

The match is of extreme importance for both teams given that they are tied on points on top of the table.

With Barasat being ruled out to host an I-League game after the unsavoury incidents of hooliganism, the IFA were in dire straits over organising the game, given that the Salt Lake Stadium was booked for a function.

Chirag United coach Subrata Bhattacharya wasn't pleased one bit with the postponement as they now have to change their strategy for the upcoming match.

“It is very difficult to concentrate on football if these things happen. Salt Lake is now a stadium with artificial turf and Barasat is altogether a different venue with natural turf. So we need to develop different plan accordingly. If we do not know about the venue of the match then certainly it creates lot of problem for me as a coach.

“Moreover since our match got postponed to Monday, it means we shall have very less time to prepare for the next round match which we are to play on a Saturday. Incidents like this never happen in any other country except India. It is really disappointing to comment on the way the league is run in our country," said Subrata Bhattacharya.

Chirag United won their Kolkata Premier League match against Eastern Railway earlier on Thursday 2-0 with Josimar scoring a brace.
