After losing by a solitary goal against Chirag United, the Federation Cup champions are now looking forward to their next game, against Mumbai FC. Sounding confident about a positive result in Mumbai, East Bengal coach Philipe De Ridder spoke to Goal.com.

“We are the Federation Cup champions so we have to live up to our reputation in each and every match we play. The Chirag United chapter is over and a team cannot lose very single game they play so I expect a positive result from the weekend’s game in Mumbai.”

The Cooperage stadium has always been an area of concern for all Kolkata teams, and when asked about the same he said, “All away venues in India are difficult, be it in the North (Ludhiana), or Goa, it is different altogether. But all this is part and parcel of a league and we have to plan and play accordingly.”

Speaking about opponents Mumbai FC, De Ridder mentioned, “I have watched them play during the Federation cup and their striker Abhishek is very good and scored a hat trick. We shall be cautious against them.”

With only one point separating the two teams it will be interesting to see how both the teams shape up for the crucial game. Rubbishing reports of East Bengal’s motive to attain just a single point from the game, he said, “East Bengal never goes on to the pitch looking for one point. We always go with a motive to win the matches.”

The management has left out senior national team player and set piece expert Renedy Singh for the tie in Mumbai. Justifying his squad selection, the coach mentioned, “Renedy is recovering from his calf injury so I do not want to rush things with him. I am giving him the correct amount of time to recover.”
