I-League: Mohun Bagan Defender Mohanraj Has Started Training
The defender has resumed training..
Mohun Bagan missed the services of young fullback N.Mohanraj
throughout the Federation Cup campaign and also in the first I-League game of
the second phase against Churchill, as the defender was nursing a groin injury.
But Mohanraj confirmed to Goal.com that he is back in training and is not far away from full fitness.
Speaking to Goal.com he said, “I have started training again so I am optimistic of playing soon.”
Mohanraj expressed his disappointment for staying injured at a crucial stage of the season and also said that the injuries are hampering his team’s performances.
“It’s frustrating to be injured during the season but what has been even more disappointing is the fact that our team are missing several players due to knocks.
“We are still somehow coping with it because we have a good squad but still I think the sooner they recover the better it is for our team.”
The Tamil Nadu born player was initially part of the Under-23 squad but was later called up to the senior national camp as many defenders were injured.
He stated that being a part of the senior setup was a great experience for him.
“Our coach (Bob Houghton) called me to the senior camp because some defenders like Mahesh (Gawli) and Sameer (Naik) were injured. It was a proud moment for me as I got another chance to be in a camp with the seniors and once again it was a great learning experience," he concluded
