I-League: Mohun Bagan Sign Japanese Midfielder Ryuiji Suoeka
The Mariners have signed a medio from Japan.
Mohun Bagan signed 30 year old Japanese Midfielder Ryuiji Suoeka on Tuesday.
The former Bangkok United attacking midfielder had appeared for trials for Sporting Clube De Goa but it was learnt that Sporting coach Roy Barreto was looking for a defender rather than an attack minded player.
Mohun Bagan immediately offered the Japanese a trial on recommendation of coach Karim Bencharifa who had earlier seen the player playing in Singapore.
Ryuji first featured for Mohun Bagan in a practice tie against Peerless, scoring both the goals in that match.
After his impressive show in the practice tie, the Kolkata giants applied for his ITC and on Tuesday Ryuji finally signed for the green and maroon brigade.
Mohun Bagan have now signed an Asian which completes their quota of foreigners. Coach Karim Bencherifa sounded very optimistic about this deal.
Speaking to Goal.com he said “He is a very talented player and I had seen him before he came here. He comes with a good reputation and I am sure he will live up to it. We have also registered him for the Calcutta League and so he is available for the match against Kalighat”.
