I-League: Team Of The Week - Round 8
Goal.com India looks at all those who impressed in Round 8 of the I-League....
Formation: 3-4-3
Best XI
Goalkeeper:
Lihaz Koya (Mumbai FC)- Koya produced some important saves which helped his team to keep a clean sheet in the goalless draw against Sporting Clube de Goa.
Defenders:
Rouhallah Saminia (Salgaocar)- It is not common for a defender to be man of the match in an I-League match but Saminia managed to do just that after an inspiring display against JCT.
Uga Okpara (East Bengal)- The Nigerian makes it to our best eleven for the third consecutive round after another strong performance at the heart of the East Bengal defence against Lajong.
Debabrata Roy (Mahindra United)- The fullback has earned a call up to the senior national team after a year and a half and his solid display against Air India was another proof of his good form.
Midfielders:
Tomba Singh (Mohun Bagan)- The former Indian player of the year started in a top flight match after a very long time and produced an excellent display which will surely give Karim Bencherifa a welcome selection headache.
Ogba Kalu Nnanna (Churchill Brothers)- Kalu is showing once again this season how important he is to Churchill. He opened the scoring and had a fine game overall against Chirag United.
K.N, Ajayan (Mahindra United)- The Mahindra skipper produced one of his best performances of this season in the 4-0 derby win over Air India as he controlled play well from the middle of the park.
Paresh Shivalkar (Mahindra United)- The winger had a lively game on the left flank against his old club. The Air India defence had no answer to his pace and movement.
Forwards:
Abel Hammond (East Bengal)- Despite being in good form, the Ghanaian surprisingly started on the bench but five minutes before the half an hour mark he came on for Bhaichung Bhutia and scored two important goals.
Edeh Chidi (Mohun Bagan)- Chidi scored his second hat-trick of the season against Pune to join Muritala at the top of the individual goal scoring chart.
Muritala Ali (Mahindra United)- Muri destroyed Air India with a superb hat-trick which has taken his tally to eight goals. However he has only scored in three matches so he will be aiming to get on the scoresheet consistently.

Special Mentions:
Syed Rahim Nabi (East Bengal)- The East Bengal skipper setup Hammond's first goal with a delightful through pass and had a good outing overall.
Khemtang Paite (Churchill Brothers)- Paite provided a brilliant cross for Kalu’s header that gave his side the lead and had a decent game on the left side.
Baldeep Singh Jr (JCT)- Baldeep produced a solid display from midfield against Salgaocar and created some good chances for his forwards.
Bibiano Fernandes (Sporting Clube de Goa)- Bibiano had a good game at central midfield as he started almost every attacking move of Sporting.
Yusif Yakubu (East Bengal)- The veteran gave an even more convincing look to East Bengal’s win by scoring the third goal with a fine finish.
Mohammed Rafi (Mahindra United)- Rafi scored the first of Mahindra’s four goals and was unfortunate not to score another. He has now scored four in as many games.
Sunil Chhetri (Dempo)- The Indian international inspired Dempo’s late comeback against Viva as he bagged one goal and played a key role in another.
