Sunday sees the champions from the last two seasons – Churchill Brothers and Dempo go head to head in Margao’s Nehru Stadium.

Dempo’s Indian international Anthony Pereira feels that the fixture is probably the biggest game in Indian football currently.

Speaking to Goal.com he said, “Churchill and Dempo have been two of the most consistent teams in the last two to three years. Both sides have a lot of quality and maybe at present it is the biggest game in Indian football.”

Anthony’s Dempo need a win to return to the top of the table and so he wants a strong display from his team.

“We want to return to the top so a win is vital here therefore the team has to be strong to beat a formidable team like Churchill.”

The winger feels that the arrivals of national team players like Anwar Ali and Sunil Chhetri has made his team even more stronger and so there are a lot of expectations from Dempo this season.

“Anwar and Sunil has made us stronger. People have high expectations from Dempo this season so it’s good that we have made an unbeaten start but we have to be consistent because there is a long way to go.”

Armando Colaco’s team will once again miss a few key players including Mahesh Gawli but that has been the case in earlier rounds also so Anthony expects their bench strength to come good in this match too.

“We are missing some important players but that cannot be an excuse. Our reserves have done a good job so far and I expect them to do well in this game also."

Anthony has been both scoring and creating goals this season which has given him satisfaction but he isn’t getting carried away and is focused on improving.

“It’s good that I have contributed with both assists and goals. But I have to keep my feet on the ground and keep improving in every match,” he concluded.
