I-League: Chirag Coach Subrata Bhattcharya Hails Two Goal Hero Josimar
The Chirag tactician was full of praise for the Brazilian matchwinner
Chirag United went
three points clear at the top after a 2-0 win over newly promoted Salgaocar at
Vidyasagar Krirangan, Barasat on Friday
evening.
Their coach Subrata Bhattacharya was happy with the result but like always wasn’t getting carried away.
He said,“I am happy that we won today as that’s what is most important. I am not going to indulge into superlatives but we have made a decent start and must continue to play well."
Bhattacharya then gave his thoughts on the match itself and paid tribute to Josimar, who scored both the goals in the game and has now become the league's topscorer.
“Salgaocar are a decent team so it wasn’t easy today but we worked hard and played as a team.
“All the players deserve credit for their efforts and of course Josimar was brilliant as he scored the two goals which gave us maximum points.”
Chirag have a three point cushion at the top and they will remain in pole position unless Dempo beat Churchill on Sunday.
Bhattacharya’s team next face champions Churchill and so he said that this win would give his team confidence for that game. He added that he wasn’t looking at other results and that survival is still his priority.
“It’s good that we are at the top but there is a long way to go. I am not worried about other results now, my aim is reach a points tally which would ensure our survival.
“We have a tough away game against Churchill next so this win will give us confidence for that game.”
Finally the Mohun Bagan legend also remarked that as many as three players from his team were good enough to be selected in either of the two national squads that were announced at the end of last month.
“There is a lot of talented players in my team. Players like Safar (Sardar), Gouranga (Biswas) and Denson (Devadas) have been performing well so they could have made it to the national squads,” he concluded.
