I-League: We Need Better Security All Over India - Viva Kerala's Sreedharan
Don’t believe what you see...
Viva Kerala are placed second from bottom and there’s not
much to cheer about for their supporters. But coach A.M.Sreedharan mentioned
that the points table doesn’t always reflect the level of performances put up
by his boys.
“The standings don’t show how we have played. We didn’t get the results despite having played well in most games. I think we haven’t been exceptional but have done reasonably OK,” said Sreedharan.
The Kerala outfit are an inexperienced unit and the coach believes that having played five games in the country’s top division, he hopes that his players have or should have adapted by now.
“Now we have had five games and my players have had enough experience from it. I hope we don’t repeat our mistakes. The goals we have conceded have been primarily due to the inexperience shown by the goalkeeper and the defence,” said Sreedharan.
Before their previous game against East Bengal, an untoward incident took place, which was averted in time by the diligence shown by the state police of Kerala.
“The object was first noticed by our kit boy and he threw it away once. Then we were suspicious about it and informed the police who took it out. I have informed the boys not to touch any suspicious object henceforth.”
Sreedharan agreed that the I-League venues need better security measures as there is a lot of uncertainty around the world.
“If it can happen in Kerala, where people are well educated, I fear that it can happen anywhere. We need to up the security all over India,” said the Viva coach.
