The Mariners have approached the game's governing body to intervene in their dispute with the Indian captain....The Kolkata giants sent a lengthy document to the IFA (Indian Football Association), which is the governing body of West Bengal football, on Wednesday evening. IFA now have to forward it to FIFA.
The document contains details of Mohun Bagan’s dispute with Bhaichung Bhutia who was suspended by the club for six months without pay after he missed a few exhibition matches and training sessions.
Bagan’s decision had already been overturned by the AIFF appointed arbitrator and the Indian captain was allowed to sign for East Bengal.
The General Secretary of the IFA, Mr. Utpal Ganguly confirmed that they have received the letter from Mohun Bagan.
He told Goal.com, "Bagan have sent a letter (a lengthy document) to FIFA about the Bhaichung Bhutia affair."
Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra didn't give too many details but assured that there will be more on this officially on Thursday.
Speaking to Goal.com Mitra said, "I cannot confirm this but will give a statement on Thursday."
