De Ridder will be heading straight to Mumbai to watch East Bengal’s game against Air India. But he will only take charge after that game and his first assignment will be the home tie against newly promoted Shillong Lajong on November 12.

East Bengal football secretary Santosh Bhattacharya was quoted saying, “If De Ridder receives his visa then he will board a plane on Thursday and will land by Friday in Mumbai.”

He added, “De Ridder won't be the coach in the Air India game but he expressed his desire to watch the team play.”

The Belgian coach is also expected to bring along a fitness expert who would oversee the physical conditioning of the players when the I-League takes a break from November 15th due to the national camp.

Bhattacharya said, “The fitness expert will be here for a month and is totally an initiative of De Ridder as he wasn’t able to have any pre-season with the team.”

This will be De Ridder’s second stint with East Bengal after his spell in 2005-2006 when he helped the Kolkata giants finish second in the National league.
