I-League: Team Of The Week - Round 6
Goal.com India looks at all those who impressed in Round 6 of the I-League....
Best XI
Goalkeeper:
Nidhinlal A.C. (Mumbai FC)- Nidhinlal came up with some important saves and looked comfortable while collecting long balls against Mohun Bagan which helped his side register their first win of the season.
Defenders:
Naoba Singh (Churchill Brothers)- The young fullback produced a vintage performance in the 3-2 win over Air India. He was always a threat going forward and looked solid while defending.
Uga Okpara (East Bengal)- The East Bengal defence has performed much better with the presence of Okpara in the last two matches. The Tall Nigerian defender came up with a strong performance against Viva which helped his team keep a clean sheet.
Bernand Achaw (Mumbai FC)- Mohun Bagan often found it difficult to break through the Mumbai FC defence which was well led by Bernard. He made some important interceptions in a fine overall display.
Midfielders:
Anthony Pereira (Dempo)- It wasn’t Anthony’s best performance of the season but still he looked dangerous all game and scored the all important late equalizer which maintained Dempo’s unbeaten start.
Douhou Pierre (Pune FC)- Douhou had an excellent game from the middle of the park as he often bombarded forward to support the attack and even played a key role in the build up to Arata’s goal.
Noel Wilson (Mumbai FC)- The veteran scored a late equalizer in the last round and this time against Mohun Bagan did all the dirty work in front of the back four pretty well.
Ogba Kalu Nnanna (Churchill Brothers)- After having three consecutive draws, Churchill needed someone to step up and Kalu did just that by scoring a match winning brace.
Izumi Arata (Pune FC)- The PIO had a lively game on the left flank as he caused problems for the Dempo backline with his pace and movement. His well taken goal late in the game almost gave Pune their first win of the season.
Forwards:
Abhishek Yadav (Mumbai FC)- The Indian international gave his side a shock lead early in the game and kept the Bagan defence busy for the rest of the match with his work rate.
ND Opara (Air India)- Opara missed a few chances but looked in good touch and also managed to get on the scoresheet which has taken his tally to five for the season.
Special Mentions:
Luciano Sabrosa (Defender, Salgaocar)- The Brazilian was a massive presence at the heart of the Salgaocar defence which didn’t allow Lajong to create too many chances.
Syed Rahim Nabi (Midfielder, East Bengal)- The East Bengal captain scored the all important winner and had a decent outing overall against Viva Kerala.
Svetozar Mijin (Midfielder, Mahindra United)- Mijin was Mahindra’s best player in their stalemate against JCT as he created much of his team’s play from the middle of the park.
Marco Pereira (Midfielder, Mohun Bagan)- The Mariners suffered a shock defeat but Marcos still managed to come up with a strong performance.
Snehashish Chakraborty (Midfielder, Mohun Bagan)- Snehashish scored a good goal which brought his team back into the game and also created a few other chances for his forwards.
Dada Nabeel (Forward, Air India)- The young striker scored his second goal of the season in the last round and caused a few problems for the Churchill backline.
Nathaniel Amos (Forward, Sporting Clube de Goa)- He scored the equalizer and often caused trouble to the Chirag defence with his height and physicality.
