Mumbai FC registered their first win of the season after scoring an upset 2-1 victory over Mohun Bagan at Vidyasagar Krirangan, Barasat on Monday evening.

Their coach Khalid Jamil said after the game that the two goals in the first half made their task a lot easier.

He said, "My message to the players was just to go out there and enjoy playing the game.

“We got the early goal and then another just before the break. So a two goal lead at halftime gave us an advantage.

“We conceded first in each of our last five matches so we improved on that aspect today and it was good performance overall.

Jamil also praised his defence for putting up a good show and also the foreigners for adapting quickly.

"The defenders played well even though all have just begun to play together. Foreigners came late and didn’t play any tournaments in pre-season. I have no complaints. I'm pleased with the performance.”

The young coach then went on to praise Indian international striker Abhishek Yadav.

"It was another great performance by Abhishek. He has done very well in every game. Today he often dropped back to help out the defence also."

Finally Jamil stated that his opponents were probably a bit overconfident and once again expressed his delight with the result.

"Mohun Bagan played well but were a little overconfident I feel.

"I am feeling great that I won my first big game as a coach. But more importantly we got three points and that is what matters the most," he concluded.

Mumbai FC next have a home tie against JCT on Sunday, 8th November.
