I-League: Different Rules For Indians & Foreigners - Bimal Ghosh Blasts Officials

The Air India coach was breathing fire in his media address...

The Mumbai club had scored their winning goal when the Churchill custodian Lalit Thapa fumbled to collect from a flag-kick. The linesman and referee combined to deny Air India and coach Bimal Ghosh had every reason to blast the match officials.

"If that goal was disallowed, no goal in the world stands. The referee was dangerous and you just can't disallow that. The referee must be punished for this."

When asked if he would lodge a formal complaint against the referee to the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the experienced coach dodged it wisely.

"They must be see on their own. Even if you complain, what will happen?"

Ghosh went on to state that any team in the I-League wouldn't have any chance of winning if such incidents continue to take place. He added that the referees were unlucky to escape unhurt as the Mumbai crowd isn't very aggressive.

"You can't win games if these things happen. Mumbai crowd is of the silent lot. If they would do such things in Kolkata or other places, the referee would be beaten."

He also spoke of discrimination on the part of referee between Indians and foreigners when giving a decision.

"When I stood closer to the line, he told me not to but while the other coach did the same, the fourth official forgot the rules."

Air India next face East Bengal in Mumbai and the bad news is that N.D.Opara will be suspended.
