Pune FC were held yet again, this time against Mumbai FC at home, after their game on Saturday finished 1-1. Skipper Shanmugam Venkatesh opened the scoring early in the first half, but the lead was quickly wiped out as Darren Caldera scored for the visitors.

Goal.com
spoke to Pune FC coach Derrick Pereira after the game, and the coach had only positive things to say about his lads.

Pereira said, "It was a good, exciting match. We started the game ever so well, but conceded an equalizer because of some silly mistakes from our side. On the whole I would say we dominated the game, and the lads showed great attitude in pushing for the win."

It was Pune's third draw in four games, and even though Pereira agreed this wasn't a good habit, he was assured in his confidence that the elusive win would come.

"The win will come for sure. We need to keep pressing for a result just the way we are right now. We need to keep the focus, and the result will surely go our way", he said.

Mumbai FC came to Pune on the back of two defeats and a draw, and are already being tipped as relegation candidates, but Pereira got a good impression of Khalid Jamil's side.

He added, "They are playing well. They did well against Chirag in the second half, and also against Churchill. Especially while defending, they are good, and their struggles are mainly down to the league being really tough."

Pune skipper Venkatesh started Saturday's game after recovering completely from a thigh strain, and put in a superb effort, being named the man of the match as well, something Pereira couldn't disagree with.

He added, "It was an excellent performance from him. He was inspiring today, was all over the pitch, and showed amazing work rate.

"He almost got the winner in the second half, but couldn't score because of a bad bounce. He's got quality, which shows when he's on the ball, and he made some very good runs as well today."

Speaking on his side's inability to kill a game, Pereira said, "We just need to be patient. Edmar was a little isolated up front, and once we have Jeje back, we will do better as an attacking force."

Finally, Pereira reserved a special mention for the home crowd, and was disappointed his boys couldn't give them more to shout about.

"The turnout was even better than the first game today, and they created a fantastic atmosphere inside the stadium. Sadly, we could not give them another goal, which would have pumped them up even more", he signed off.
