Snehashish Joins Bagan, East Bengal Ask Tomba To Return The Money

The long lasting duel between Snehashish Chakraborty and East Bengal has at last come to an end after the winger signed for Mohun Bagan and also paid a fine of Rs. 50, 000 to the Indian Football Association (IFA), which is the state football association of West Bengal.

The former Chirag United winger was asked to pay a sum of rupees two lakhs to the IFA and submit a letter of regret for false allegations that East Bengal had forged his signatures.

The left winger had accused the Red and Gold’s of falsely implicating him under a contract which he never signed. He, thereby, appealed to IFA to look into the matter and following several discussions, the matter was referred to a handwriting expert.

Rajanikanta Das, a noted handwriting expert with an experience of over 45 years, provided 13 different angles to prove that the signatures of the contract provided by East Bengal were indeed of Snehashish and thus, IFA charged the player.

However, Snehashish recently appealed to the IFA to forgive him if he had committed any mistakes.

“I had written to the IFA that if there were slip-ups on my part then please forgive me. They accepted and reduced the fine to Rs.50,000.

“However, I haven’t written to East Bengal expressing regret and won’t do so. I am happy that this saga has come to an end. I am more than happy to play for Mohun Bagan,” Snehashish told Goal.com.

Meanwhile, Tomba Singh has signed for Mohun Bagan but that has left his former club East Bengal miffed who have demanded rupees eight lakhs from the player.

“Tomba signed a letter stating that he shall play for us in the 2009-10 season or pay us the eight lakhs he took from us. All what we are asking is the money since he has signed for Mohun Bagan,” explained East Bengal general secretary, Kalyan Majumdar.
