I-League: We Have Signed Odafa - Churchill Alemao
The hopes and ambitions of many clubs have been brushed aside as Churchill Brothers have managed to extend the contract of skipper Odafa Okolie for another year according to club patron Churchill Alemao.
The Nigerian star has been on the wish list of a host of
clubs but has once again decided to stay with the champions as he hopes to
guide the Indian champions in their Asian conquest.
Speaking to Goal.com last evening, Churchill Alemao said, “Yes, we have signed Odafa for another season. As long as he is in India, he will not play for any other club. If he leaves, that’s only for Europe and not any Asian country.”
On Sunday evening, there was a meeting held amongst several senior officials following which a host of their players decided to stay back instead of moving for so-called greener pastures.
“Almost all the players have signed – Felix, Paite, Vashum, Naoba, Rowilson, Robert and many more. Kalu hasn’t yet signed as he is asking for a hefty sum but we are confident of coming to an agreement with him,” said Alemao.
Meanwhile, four other key players for the Goan champions haven’t yet decided their future amongst whom are Chitra Singh, Gouramangi Singh, Arindam Bhattacharya and Govin Sigh, who is almost certain to move for East Bengal.
“Very soon, we will be speaking to them as well and hope to keep them. I am very happy with my boys and hence have rewarded them with improved contracts,” added Alemao.
