I-League: Team Of The Week - Round 22
Goal.com India looks at all those who impressed in the Round 22 of I-League.
Karanjit Singh (JCT)-GK- Karanjit came up with important saves in his
side’s must win game against Mumbai FC and was the only goalkeeper to keep a
clean sheet in the last round.
Naoba Singh (Churchill Brothers)-RB- He had another good season for Churchill and capped it off with a goal in the last game.
Anwar (JCT)-CB- The Indian international came up with a solid performance in the last match to help his side get the three points which they needed for their survival.
Lamine Tamba (Mahindra United)-CB- He came up with a strong performance against the likes of Bhaichung and Barreto by limiting them to very few chances in his side’s 2-1 win over the Mariners.
Debabrata Roy (Mahindra United)-LB- Debabrata defended well and also provided a threat while going forward on the left hand side.
Reisangmi Vasum (Churchill Brothers)-RM- Vashum was excellent against Mohammedan and gave his team a flying start by creating the first goal when his pass was put into the back of the net by Mohammedan defender Wasim Feroz.
Ogba Kalu Nnanna (Churchill Brothers)-CM- He didn’t score this time but the Nigerian was once again influential in the middle of the park.
Douhou Pierre (Mahindra United)-CM- He has been a regular member of the team of the week recently and he kept up his good run with another powerful performance against Mohun Bagan.
Khan Thang Paite (Churchill Brothers)-LM- Paite has been one of the unsung heroes for Churchill this season but he did come into the spotlight on the last day by scoring one of his side’s six goals.
Edeh Chidi (Mahindra United)-FW- He killed off Mohun Bagan’s title hopes by bagging a brace in a man of the match performance to end the season with 11 goals.
Odafa Onyeka Okolie (Churchill Brothers)-FW- This season’s last team of the week would have been incomplete without Odafa and the league’s topscorer made sure of his inclusion by scoring two more goals in the last game.
Special Mentions:
Bibiano Fernandes (CM, Sporting Clube de Goa)- The midfielder came up with a good performance and also scored a goal in his side’s 3-1 win over Air India.
Beto (CM, Dempo)- Beto impressed yet again, this time running the show in midfield against East Bengal and also scored a goal.
Jagpreet Singh (CM, JCT)- The youngster has probably been JCT’s player of the season and he once again came to his side’s rescue by scoring the winner in a must win game.
Bisheshwor Singh (RM. Sporting Clube de Goa)- He played well and sealed the win for his side by scoring in injury time.
Felix Chimaokwu (FW, Churchill Brothers)- I-League’s joint second highest scorer got on the scoresheet in the last game and also played a part in other goals.
Yusif Yakubu (FW, East Bengal)- The veteran capped off a successful season by scoring a brilliant solo goal and setting up the other in his side's 2-2 draw against Dempo.
