Dempo got off to a flying start and took the lead in the eight minute through their top scorer Ranti Martins.

The Nigerian doubled their lead after finishing off a lovely through pass from Climax Lawrence. This was his 11th goal of the season thus making him the joint second highest scorer along with Felix of Churchill.

The game looked to have been all over as early as the 34th minute when Beto scored the third with a left footed shot from close range.

Mohammedan tried hard to come back in the second half and were finally rewarded in the 68th minute when they got a penalty after John Dias had deliberately handled the box inside the box.

The Dempo defender was sent off while Okoro coolly converted the spot kick to bring his side back in with a shout.

Jothi Kumar had a glorious opportunity to make it 2-3 but failed to score with his header from a Okoro cross.

Dempo rubbed salt into Mohammedan’s wounds as young  Joaquim Abranches scored the fourth in the dying minutes of the game to make the scoreline even more convincing.

The defending champions move up to fourth spot with 30 points from 21 games while Mohammedan are in deep trouble now as they occupy 11th spot having picked up 22 points from 21 games with a goal difference of -10 which is only better than already relegated Vasco.

Goalscorers: Ranti Martins (Dempo) 8’, 22’, Beto (Dempo) 34’, Mike Okoro (pen) (Mohammedan) 68’, Joaquim Abranches 88’
