With 25 points in their kitty, the Goan side are comfortably placed at the top while JCT are in the eighth position with 12. JCT had goalkeeper Karanjit Singh back in their ranks but missed the serviced of Anwar in the backline due to injury.  Sporting. too, started with Felix D’Souza between the sticks.

It was the visitors who had the better of the exchanges and dominated the game. Eduardo Da Silva wasted a free-kick early in the game. They were stringing some fine passes but were hit at the half hour mark by Junior Elijah who has continued to shine in this season’s campaign. A Joseph Pereira shot was put down by JCT custodian Karanjit Singh with Junior doing enough to find the back of the net.

The second session started with the home side going two up as the Nigerian striker scored his second. Bibiano Fernandes, who seems to have regained his old tough in the recent games, orchestrated the move to find Junior who deftly placed the ball and thus took his goal’s tally to seven.

Shocked by Sporting’s two goal lead, JCT pulled all strings together and went for the kill. It didn’t take long for hem to pull one back through Jagpreet Singh from outside the box.

JCT striker Balwant Singh had two good chances but couldn’t convert any of them. However, cedit must be given to Sporting custodian Felix D’Souza who pulled off some fine saves and kept his side’s lead intact.

The match ended with the same scoreline with JCT’s Julius Akpele being adjudged the Man of the Match for the records.

Goalscorer Sporting: Junior Elijah (30th and 47th)

Goalscorer JCT: Jagpreet Singh (60th)
