I-League: Muritala Denies Forged Visa Charges

Chirag United striker Subair Muritala Ali has denied reports of him being detained at the Mumbai airport on 20th May on the alleged charges of having a forged visa.

The Nigerian forward was part of Mohammedan Sporting last season and following the end of the second division games, the striker left for Lagos, Nigeria.

“I wasn’t detained by the airport authorities. I had a ticket to Lagos and went there without any hassles. I didn’t go to Indonesia,” said Muritala, who was reportedly on his way to Indonesia as claimed by some reports.

“You tell me if I have a forged or fake visa, will I ever return to this country? Especially after being reportedly deported? Some of my friends did tell me about some reports published regarding me. I am not concerned about them.”

Muritala moved to Chirag United in the summer and states that he had a chance to continue with his former club but that he wanted to play in some other league.

“I wanted to try my hand in some other leagues. I couldn’t and so joined Chirag United. They are new side but I feel that they will do well.”

The 24 year old had earlier plied his trade for Air India when they were in the second division and is well acquainted with the conditions in Mumbai.

“I have played at Cooperage earlier on several occasions. It’s a small ground but a hard one. No excuses but we have to play,” said Muritala.
