Ranbir Kapoor, the co-owner of Mumbai City FC, Mumbai’s only Indian Super League (ISL) franchise, was in elation, as he believed his squad have made all the right moves in the draft picks to ensure a good foothold for their upcoming inaugural ISL campaign.
"I look forward to see Indian national team players Subrata, Nabi and the others play for us. We have put the best possible squad together for Mumbai and now is the time to really get started," explained the Bollywood superstar.
“I am excited about our team and I welcome the players to the Mumbai franchise," roared Kapoor.
Mumbai have a squad that comprises of India internationals Subrata Paul, Syed Rahim Nabi and young talent in Lalrindika Ralte besides having quality talent in Ram Malik and Nadong Bhutia.
The team now await final instructions on the management for the start of pre-season training which is likley to be held in Navi Mumbai.
“We came with a plan and executed it,” exclaimed a visibly pleased co-owner Bimal Parekh.
Concluding the interview, technical director for the Mumbai franchise Nishant Mehra revealed, “We targeted a mix of experience and youth, which we were able to sign. On paper the team looks good, but we will have to deliver on the field of play.”
