Bernard delighted with ‘dream’ goal

The 21-year-old forward was overjoyed with his first strike for Brazil as the Selecao saw off Honduras 5-0 in Miami
Bernard has labelled his goalscoring evening for Brazil a dream come true.

The 21-year-old attacker opened the scoring for the Selecao as they went on to see off Honduras 5-0 at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

And the Shakhtar Donetsk forward was left purring after netting his first international goal.

"Just being part of the Brazil team is a dream," he told TV Globo.

"And getting that first goal has made it even better. Everyone who has been by my side knows the importance of this goal."

The former Atletico Mineiro man edged Willian out of the starting line-up after impressing in training and thanked his team-mates for their contribution to an unforgettable evening.

"I told my parents and my team-mates that the goal would come at the right time," he added.

"Now I must focus because I could have scored another goal. If I have some more opportunities I have to remain calm to make the most of it."
