Besiktas goalkeeper Allan McGregor feels criticism directed towards him is unjustified, arguing that the whole team have to take responsibility for poor form.
The Scotsman put in a poor performance against Bursaspor last week as the Istanbul giants slumped to a 3-0 defeat but believes that he has come in for unfair attention.
"Everyone criticises me, but no one will talking about the defence in front of me," the 31-year-old told Hurriyet.
"The criticism should be directed towards the defenders as well. Goalkeepers are always the first to blame.
"While it's important not to concede goals, it's also important to score them. When we get into goalscoring positions, he give up.
"There's only one guilty party at Besiktas at the moment - us."
He then claimed even Real Madrid and Spain captain Iker Casillas would not do much better if he were between the sticks for BJK.
"We players are responsible for the table. Even if [Iker] Casillas were in goal, he'd be conceding."
Besiktas mounted a credible title challenge earlier in the season but a poor run of form has seen them slip 13 points behind table-toppers Galatasaray.
