The full-back paid tribute to the staff and players of Gremio for helping him to rediscover his form and fitness following his loan move from ArsenalGremio defender Andre Santos has expressed his delight at being called up to Luiz Felipe Scolari's Brazil squad for Saturday's friendly with Bolivia.
Santos returned to his homeland on a loan deal from Arsenal in February, and he feels his recall to the Selecao is indicative of his improved form and fitness over the past couple of months.
"I am too happy, I cannot hide it," he told reporters. "Since I arrived at Gremio, I have worked seriously. I will do anything to stay.
"I thank the club, coaches and directors for giving me all their support. I needed a run of games to get back to my ideal level and consequently show that I'm good enough to return to the national selection."
Santos is hopeful that a strong showing in Saturday's friendly match could go a long way to securing his place in the squad in the build-up to the World Cup in 2014, adding: "I know that the group is not closed. I recognise the quality of the other players, but I hope to be included."
