Terim talks up Drogba-Burak partnership

The Turk believes his strikeforce have struck up a great understanding, while calling for his men to play without fear in their Champions League showdown against Real Madrid
Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim has praised the on-pitch tandem of Didier Drogba and Burak Yilmaz, and is confident the pair will continue to go from strength to strength.

The duo have forged a fine understanding together since Drogba's January arrival at the club, and Terim believes the promise already showcased by their partnership is ample reason for optimism going forward.

Speaking to Lig TV after his side's 2-0 win against Istanbul BB on Saturday, the 59-year-old said: "With Drogba, they became a good couple.

"We were discussing with Burak that he has to change his style and improve his skills. He's been working hard, and we're seeing him get better and better day after day."

Burak will face off with Champions League joint top-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo when the Istanbul outfit travel to Madrid on Wednesday, and Terim has urged the Turkey international and his team-mates to have faith in their own ability.

"Real Madrid is the biggest team in the world. We'll show them respect," he continued. "But we've also done things which deserve respect.

"Before the Madrid game, our minds are clearer with this win [against Istanbul BB]. We refreshed our self-confidence also.

"I hope we'll get results that we need in both legs."

Defender Emmanuel Eboue echoed his coach's words: "We respect them, but against Real Madrid we need to trust ourselves. There is no need to fear them and grow stressed about the game."

The Turkish champions play the first leg away at the Bernabeu, before entertaining Jose Mourinho's men at Turk Telekom Arena on April 9.
