Pato 'incredibly happy' at Corinthians
The Brazil international was plagued by injuries in his time at AC Milan, but is hoping to rebuild his career at the Club World Cup winners
Corinthians forward Alexandre Pato says he is "incredibly happy" to be back in his homeland. The former AC Milan striker completed his €15 million move back to Brazil after deciding to call time on an injury-hit six years at San Siro.
And the 23-year-old revealed how the desire for a new challenge and the reception from Timao supporters were the crucial factors behind his transfer.
“I decided to come back because I felt the warmth of the Corinthians fans,” he told Globo Esporte.
“That was what helped me choose. It is a new adventure and I want to give my best for the fans.
“I have a four-year contract and I'm incredibly happy – I've been welcomed with open arms.”
Pato also lavished praise on Rossoneri president Silvio Berlusconi and hailed the impact he has made on his career to date.
“He was a very important person in my career and has always been nice. But for now, I am thinking only of Corinthians.”
