Andres Sanches says he was against the sacking of Brazil boss Mano Menezes.
The Selecao coach was relieved of his duties on Friday following a meeting between national team president Jose Maria Marin and other members of the Brazil hierarchy - including Sanches.
And in the aftermath of his dismissal, the director has revealed he was overruled during the process, with the majority voting in favour of moving in a new direction.
"The president wants to try other methods, and technology planning for the team ahead of the 2014 World Cup," he told reporters at a press conference.
"I understand and respect the hierarchy of the federation, but I am against stopping the work, which I believe was right. I’m certain this is the wrong moment to fire him."
Menezes was handed the Brazil reins in 2010 but leaves after the national side were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the 2011 Copa America and beaten in the Olympic final by Mexico.
