FA not informed of Serbian police charging England U21 players
England's governing football body will seek government advice after players from both sides were named in criminal proceedings following the unsavoury scenes in Krusevac
The Football Association has confirmed that it was not informed of the Serbian police's decision to charge two England Under-21 players with violent behaviour. The Serbian FA moved swiftly to suspend midfielder Nikola Ninkovic and striker Ognjen Mundrinski from all national teams, but the legal authorities have now announced charges for 12 people for their part in the brawl, including two unnamed England players.
Five Serbia players and both teams' assistants were also charged, and the FA confirmed that it is seeking government advice over the matter.
A statement read: "The FA can confirm it has not received any formal notification of any charges filed by the Serbian authorities.
"We have not been made aware of any of the names of individuals connected with these charges and we therefore await further details.
"We are in contact with the British Government for advice, as well as speaking with our colleagues at Uefa.
"The FA reiterates its position of full support for all players and staff caught up in the appalling scenes in Serbia two weeks ago."
