Kaka to keep place in Brazil squad for Colombia friendly
The 2007 Ballon d'Or winner was recalled to the Selecao fold for October's internationals, and has been retained after some good performances for his country
Brazil coach Mano Menezes has revealed that his squad for next month's fixture against Colombia will include Real Madrid midfielder Kaka. The 30-year-old received his first call-up since the 2010 World Cup for October's friendlies against Japan and Iraq and scored in both matches, and the former Corinthians boss believes his inclusion will give his side an extra dimension.
"The combination of Oscar and Kaka gave us more tactical variations," Menezes told reporters after announcing his squad.
"We were very complete in our recent games. You can't just think about the attacking side of the team. We were good in winning back the ball and to do this we required the participation of everyone, including Oscar and Kaka."
Menezes did not call up any of Willian, Fernandinho, Alex Teixeira or Luiz Adriano, all of whom have inspired Shakhtar Donetsk to an unbeaten start of the season, while Ronaldinho was also snubbed, despite his good form for Atletico Mineiro.
"When you are in charge of a complicated process such as this one, with so many players to observe, you can't afford to go around in circles and end up at the same place where you started, and this is why [Ronaldinho] was left out," he explained.
