Barcelona's Thiago faces eight weeks out with a knee injury

The 21-year-old ruptured a knee ligament in the Blaugrana's 3-2 victory over Sevilla on Saturday and will miss this coming weekend's Clasico during his injury layoff.
Barcelona starlet Thiago Alcantara will be out of action for eight weeks after rupturing a colateral ligament in his right knee, the club announced on its official website Sunday.

If Thiago is out for the duration of the predicted two-month time frame, then the 21-year-old could miss as many as 11 matches for the Blaugrana, including this coming weekend’s Clasico against Real Madrid. Thiago picked up the injury in Barca's 3-2 win against Sevilla on Saturday, when Tito Vilanova's side came back from two goals down to win in the third minute of stoppage time.

In more positive news for the Camp Nou club, Andres Ineista, Carles Puyol and Adriano have been confirmed fit to face Benfica in the UEFA Champions League this week and Los Blancos in the first La Liga Clasico of the campaign. The two Spanish giants have already faced off twice this season, in which Jose Mourinho's men came out on top over two Supercopa legs.
