The former Real Madrid hitman was appointed manager of the Mexican club in May, and is looking forward to working with a team that has the "perfect blend of experience and youth"

Former Real Madrid striker Hugo Sanchez has praised his current club Pachuca, insisting that they are set to accomplish "great things" in the near future.

The former international took charge of the Mexican club in May, bringing an end to a two-year hiatus from the sport after leaving Almeria in 2010.

Sanchez, who scored 29 goals in 58 caps for Mexico, has expressed his excitement at leading a side with potential ahead of the Apertura campaign.

"I think we have a perfect blend of experience and youth, eager to demonstrate that Pachuca is set for great things," the 53-year-old said at a press conference.

"Now I have to create a tight group for the good of the team."

Pachuca have begun preparations for the 2012 Apertura campaign, signing former Spain international Raul Tamudo as well as Mexican stars Nery Castillo and Alberto Medina.
