Jerome Boateng returns for a second consecutive week after giving arguably his best performance of the season for Bayern Munich. The versatile defender had Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in his pocket throughout the 90 minutes as his side kept a clean sheet in a convincing win.

Augsburg centre-back Gibril Sankoh makes his second Team of the Week appearance for his part in the Bavarians' 3-0 win against Hertha Berlin. The Sierra Leone native was a pillar in defence, winning the ball in almost every instance and silencing the visitors' attack.

Nurnberg defender Dominic Maroh debuts following his excellent showing in the Bavarians' 1-0 win away to Bremen. The 24-year-old had good support from goalkeeper Raphael Schafer, but deserves plenty of credit himself for the clean sheet.

Stuttgart were 4-1 winners against Freiburg on Saturday, and Gotoku Sakai was in fine form for the Swabians. The Japanese defender was very active on the left flank as he nullified Jan Rosenthal, and also earned credit for an assist.
