Marseille's Stephane Mbia ruled out for a month

The Ligue 1 outfit confirmed on their official website on Monday that the Cameroon international had suffered a quadriceps injury

Marseille have been rocked by the news that Stephane Mbia will be sidelined for a month.

The Ligue 1 outfit confirmed on their official website on Monday that the defender had suffered "a significant injury to the junction of his quadriceps tendon" in Sunday's Coupe de France win over Le Havre and will require a four-week spell on the sidelines.

The injury to Mbia could not come at a worse time for Marseille given that they are currently without a number of players because of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 25-year-old, who arrived at the Stade Velodrome from Rennes in 2009, can also play at the base of the midfield.
