Bhowmick To Sunil: All The Best!
East Bengal coach Subhash Bhowmick is pleased that Sunil Chhetri is going to England for trials with Coventry City and has wished him ‘all the best’.
After
Goal.com exclusively revealed that the Indian international is indeed on course
for a foreign move, the Red and Gold’s coach Subhash Bhowmick gave his opinion
on the same.
“After Sunil came from Hong Kong, the first thing he did was to meet me. He told me about his trials and I wished him all the very best.
“However, my only request to him was to play the game on the 24th as our first game (in the second phase of the I-League) is very crucial against Chirag United. Without any fuss, Sunil readily agreed,” said former Salgaocar coach.
Bhowmick went on to say that it was a moment of pride for India and East Bengal as one of their favourite sons is going for trials to England.
“We must be proud that he is going to Coventry. It’s a great thing and I am very happy for him.”
Meanwhile, East Bengal have asked the AFC Challenge Cup hero to give an official letter to the club on the trials.
“That (letter) he has to do. We have to go by the rules,” added Bhowmick.
Popularly known as ‘Bhombal’, the high profile coach was pleased with his side’s preparations for the second phase of the I-League.
“We have been doing well off-late. I have changed the lifestyles of several players and if you now see Alvito or Suresh, you wouldn’t recognize them. Alvito has lost three and a half kilograms while Suresh has lost four. Their diets are being monitored.
“Tomba Singh has recovered while Ashim is also on the verge of it. It’s important that we start well.”
