Internacional put on a sensational display, and although they were made to work hard they ended up picking up a valuable 2-0 victory away at Chivas in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana semi-final.

"There is still a long way to go, but we are on the right path," affirmed Edinho after the match.

The Porto Alegre-based club started slowly, but as the match progressed they found their feet and made the most of the goal-scoring opportunities they created in the second half.

"We came here with the objective to not concede any goals, and if possible, to score ourselves. We picked up a 2-0 result, which I consider to be a very good advantage," stated Inter goalkeeper Lauro, who looked very secure during the match.

Meanwhile Bolivar, who returned to the club from Monaco of France this year, admitted: We knew that it was going to be difficult, but the team were very compact. We believe nothing has been decided yet. Chivas are a team who play very well away from home."

Internacional, who were without key playmaker Andres D'Alessandro for the match, are in a commanding position to reach the final of the Copa Sudamericana after a convincing victory in Mexico.
