Club Day: Valencia - Fans' Panel

As part of our Club Day special, we catch up with three Valencia CF fans and get their views on the club they support (Valencia CF)....

Mata, Villa, Valencia-Deportivo (Marca)

We sent five questions to three Valencia CF supporters and their answers certainly make for an interesting read. The three fans are- Anirban Desai, Rohan Sinha, Anthony D'Souza….

1.Goal.com: Since when have you been supporting Valencia?

Anirban: I started supporting Valencia in the late 1990s. I enjoyed the way that they played and I have to say that it was Valencia that really hooked me into football.

Rohan: From the time that Pablo Aimar came to the Mestalla. He is my all time favourite player and he really was the best at Valencia in the years that he played for us.

Anthony: I became a sort of sympathiser of Valencia after watching them suffer two successive defeats in the UEFA Champions League finals in 2000 and 2001.

2.Goal.com Who is you all time favourite Valencia player?

Anirban: Pablo Aimar

Rohan: Hm..... I'm aught between Amedeo Carboni and Pablo Aimar....Aimar maybe?

Anthony: David Villa for me. He has done so much for us in so short a time! I love Aimar and Canizares too!

3.Goal.com:Your most memorable memorable as a Valencia supporter?

Anirban: Maybe somewhat ironic but for me, it is losing the UEFA Champions League final to Bayern Munich in 2001.... if only Pellegrini could score that penalty!

Rohan: Winning the UEFA Cup in 2004

Anthony: Winning the UEFA Cup in 2004 and winning La Liga that same year

4.Goal.com: What did you make of last season's 'disaster'?

Anirban: Man, don't even ask about it! I am glad that Koeman is gone. It was really horrible to watch my side go from bad to worse to worst!

Rohan: I thought Qique Sanchez Flores should never have been sacked. It was a really bad decision to sack him. Then Koeman came and although I did think that he would do great, he didn't quite know how to manage his players and how to maintain authority. Anyway, it is now in the past for us, thankfully....

Anthony: The worst thing was the sacking of Flores and the best thing was the departure of Juan Soler.

5.Goal.com:What do you think Valencia should aim for this season?

Anirban: We should be one of the firm favourites for the Spanish league title. Maybe the UEFA Cup but I don't think that one can say anything about that competition at this moment of time.

Rohan: La Liga for sure. For me, we are third in the list of favourites for the title and given our good start to the season, I think we can certainly go and win the league title this season.

Anthony: After what happened last season, I would be happy with a top four finish. But I have to say that we have done great to have managed to keep David Villa and David Silva in our unit. They are the keys for our success this season and I feel that we should be challenging for the Spanish first division title.
