Nepal: Nepal Remembers Joe Kinnear

Nepal Football fraternity is smiled with the decision made by Newcastle United to appoint Joe Kinnear as the Club’s new interim Manager, former FIFA Referee Shree Ram Ranjitkar admits.

Joe Kinnear was the Coach of Nepal National Football Team in 1987, who led Nepalese team to win silver medal in 3rd South Asian Games held in 1987. India had defeated Nepal 1-0 to lift the title. Current ANFA President Ganesh Thapa had scored six goals in that tournament.

“Kinnear led Nepalese team for a year and helped Nepalese football to groom, Ranjitkar told goal.com. “Kinnear did his best for Nepalese Football”, Ranjitkar added, “I feel he was the only person who had given so many things to Nepalese Football”.

ANFA Treasurer Birat Krishna Shrestha also expressed his happiness over the appointment of Kinnear as the Coach in Newcastle United. "I feel great that Kinnear has been appointed as coach in United. We are still remembering him", Shahi told this site.
