Gouramangi Quiet On Coach's Criticism

In reaction to the savage blast received from Churchill Brothers Coach Emeka Ezeugo, Churchill Brothers defender Gouramangi Singh diplomatically chose to remain mum on the incident.

Following the 3-2 defeat at the hands of Mahindra United in the finals of the Durand Cup, Emeka Ezeugo publicly picked on his two central defenders for their shamble performance, at least according to him.

The Nigerian was quoted saying, “It was a very bad performance from the two central defenders (Gouramangi Singh and Govin Singh). They play for the national team, is this the way they play?”

“They are not good enough for any level as they don’t know the basics of the game. I wonder how they are playing for the national team.”

Speaking to Goal.com this morning, an astonished Gouramangi preferred not to comment on the issue.

“I don’t want to say anything on this. When the time is right, I shall let my views be known.”

The Manipuri defender was amongst the three best defenders of last season’s I-League and has been a regular with the national team ever since the Nehru Cup triumph.

This is the second instance when the former World Cupper Emeka Ezeugo has criticised his player in his first tournament in-charge as the head coach of Churchill Brothers SC. Earlier he spoke on skipper Odafa Okolie not paying heed to his instructions.
