Derrick Points Odafa Threat
Though Churchill Brothers haven’t been at their best, Mahindra United Coach Derrick Pereira won’t take things for granted as he points the presence of star striker Odafa Okolie in the opposition.
“They still
have got Odafa. He can change the game within minutes,” said the Pro-Licence
holder.
The Red Devils have suffered at the hands of Churchill Brothers and one can’t help but mention the 5-1 mauling at the former’s home ground in the I-League. Several Mahindra players have mentioned that game as the biggest disappointment in the careers and surely they would be more than ready to undo the wrong.
Speaking to Goal.com, Derrick said, “We have been playing well. The last time (in Durand Cup), two of our games went to extra time and we didn’t get enough rest for the finals.
“This year, surely, the team is in better shape and well-balanced.”
However, there is one concern for Derrick Pereira and that is the man between the poles – Subashish Roy Chowdhary.
“He has developed a lump in his groin and there is puss oozing out of his knee as well. As a result of the pain, he had fever too. In case, he isn’t well we shall play Amit Nandy though I shall take the final call after reviewing the situation again.”
