Del Nido Revelling In Tottenham Hypocrisy

José María del Nido has accused Tottenham Hotspur of hypocrisy over their complaints about Manchester United and stated that he put the price up for Diego Capel when the London club made enquiries.

The Sevilla president is still bitter about Juande Ramos opting to quit his club and join the Lilywhites just under a year ago and has enjoyed watching the Dimitar Berbatov saga take its affect.

While Tottenham stated that the Bulgarian had disrupted the club and accused United of not behaving in their quest to sign him, Del Nido believes it is only just.

"The way that Ramos flew the coop and abandoned his team en route to London last year totally disrupted our season and now I'm pleased that Spurs are being paid back in kind over the Berbatov transfer," he told the London Evening Standard.

"Their complaints are hypocrisy personified."

Del Nido then revealed that Tottenham's attempts to sign Capel had been unsuccessful because they did not want to pay his asking price, which he put up just for them.

"For months now they've been trying to sign Capel and sending emissaries to try and persuade us to sell," he continued.

"We told them what our understanding of the player's worth was and therefore what the minimum we would demand in order to let Capel go.

"But it appears they couldn't pay that price so they didn't get him. I must admit that if it had been any other team (than Spurs) the price I'd have quoted to sign Capel would have been lower.

"In fact there is no point in telling a lie the price would have been considerably lower. Now they've missed out on him and we won't sell Capel to Spurs."
