Thank you so much for joining us here at Goal.com for this afternoon's LIVE text commentary. Make sure you stick with us for all the post-match news and analysis, including match report and player ratings. My name is Tom Webber and it has been a real pleasure to guide you through the action. Have a lovely afternoon.
That ends their five-game unbeaten run while BVB extend theirs to an astonishing 23 games! They hold a three point lead over Bayern Munich but meat them in a potential title decider on Wednesday evening, and you can catch that here on Goal.com!
Dortmund maintain their three-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a 3-1 win at the Volkswagen Arena. Lewandowski's late goal put an end to hopes of an equaliser for Wolfsburg who can feel a bit hurt by that result.
90' + 1'
There is the final whistle!
Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLL!! THERE IS THE WINNER!! Schafer's header falls straight at the feet of Lewandowski who is free to drive at goal. This time he beats Benaglio in the one-on-one, scooping the ball lightly to the side of the keeper.
A corner for Wolfsburg here to be taken by Dejagah. It comes straight back to the Iran international and he sends in a higher quality ball. This time Subotic beats Mandzukic to the ball and clears it away!
Klopp clearly showing his intent to lock it up in defence by bringing on Owomoyela for Kuba. There is only a few minutes remaining for Wolfsburg to equalise; they have nothing to lose.
SO CLOSE!! Sio twists and turns his way into the box but is brought down. The ball runs to Jiracek and he prods it at goal but Weidenfeller rushes out to make a big, big save, turning it behind for a corner.
Yellow/Red Alexander Madlung
MADLUNG IS SENT OFF!! To be honest I am surprised it has not come sooner. He has been riding a very thin line for much of the game and the final straw comes as he leaves an elbow in on Piszczek who heads the ball away. No substitutions left for Magath to reorganise following the ejection of his captain.
Yellow Card Sebastian Kehl
Grosskreutz is caught offside again! Another quick break from Dortmund is wasted due to his inability to time his runs. That is two golden chances gone due to his impatience.
That could have been embarrassing. A long ball up from the back bounces past the attackers but gets ever closer to Weidenfeller's goal and the keeper is forced to tap it behind.
Giovanni-Guy Yann Sio
Kuba tries to play a ball over the top but ends up looping it high up to himself. Jiracek challenges him as the ball drops and wins it, but drops to the floor. The referee stops the play though it looked as though there was absolutely nothing in it.
ANOTHER MISS FROM MANDZUKIC!! Once again it is put on a plate for the Croatian but he fails to hit the ball after Dejagah's excellent cutback. If he had finished his opportunities then Wolfsburg could well be leading now!
Madlung again puts in another risky challenge in a dangerous area. He is already booked and hearts must have been in mouths when he brought down Kagawa on the edge of the box. It looked like a trip, but the referee thought otherwise.
Almost a golden chance for BVB! Kuba splits the defence with a great pass to Grosskreutz but he is adjudged to be offside when the ball was played. He opted to square the ball anyway so nothing may well have come of it.
SO CLOSE!! A superbly weighted pass by Gundogan puts it on a plate for Kagawa in the centre of the box. He tries to stab the ball into the bottom corner but he misjudges it and watches his effort roll the wrong side of the post.
There are definitely more goals in this game. It has become increasingly stretched as BVB look to enhance their lead while Wolfsburg are actively trying to level the game. We are all set for a superb closing 20 minutes. Which way will it go?
Another great ball by Dejagah!! Again he is allowed too much space on the right but his cross finds a Dortmund head. They try to feed him the ball again but he is coming back from an offside position. What way is this game going to go? Will Dortmund throw it away like they did to Stuttgart last week? Let me know your thoughts on Twitter @thwebber.
What a challenge! Kagawa cannot reach the ball to slot past Benaglio and Felipe makes a superb tackle. The ball is then played back in to Lewandowski and he is brought down by Madlung but the referee gives nothing after Kehl slams the ball wide. Some frenetic action here at the Volkswagen Arena, there could well have been a penalty there.
Good response from the visitors. They build another attack but Kagawa could well have taken a shot but passed it on to Perisic. Schmelzer then tries to send in a cross but it is cleared behind for a corner. The action has really stepped up a notch.
Assist Ashkan Dejagah
Goal Mario Mandzukic
GOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!! MANDZUKIC!! A little bit sloppy in defence from Schmelzer. He gives Dejagah too much space and when the ball is poked to the wide-man he whips in a fantastic cross. Mandzukic was at the back post to nod into the back of the net for a simple finish.
OFF THE BAR!!! Perisic plays a great diagonal ball to Kuba and he cuts inside of the defender to shoot with his left. His ferocious effort rattles the frame of the keeper's goal, denying what would have been a very special goal.
Bayern Munich have just gone 2-1 up at home to Augsburg. That makes this result for Dortmund all the more important.
A chance for either side! Lewandowski tries to cushion a long ball to Kuba for a tap in but ends up putting it straight into Benaglio's hands. Then Dejagah drills in a great low cross for Wolfsburg but his side can only win a corner.
GOOD SAVE!! Though perhaps a little unorthodox! Vieirinha lashes the ball at Weidenfeller's goal and the keeper punches it away despite it being straight at him and low. Fortunately he gets enough on it to keep it well away from a follow up.
Things just are not clicking for Wolfsburg now. They have now used two changes so will have to keep their fingers crossed that they receive no injuries, otherwise they will have no opportunity to make an attacking change later on.
Well the visitors are very much in the ascendancy now. They is an extra zip to their passing as they knock it about in midfield and seem like they could break through the defence at will.
Goal Ilkay Gündogan
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!! GUNDOGAN!!! The midfielder put Kuba through but the wide-man was closed down by Felipe. He managed to poke the ball back to Gundogan who showed immense control to find space for a shot which he caressed right into the top corner. Superb goal from the 21-year-old.
Dortmund win a free kick in a fairly central position, roughly 30 yards from goal. Perisic smacks it into the wall and his follow up is deflected out for a corner which leads to nothing.
WHAT A MISS!! Substitute Vieirinha drags the defender across and plays Mandzukic in at the top of the box. With only Weidenfeller to beat he somehow completely mishits his shot and scuffs it straight into the arms of the keeper. What a waste of a great chance to level the game.
The second half begins! Can Wolfsburg find a way back into this or will Dortmund run away with victory? Let's find out!
Welcome back! The second half is just a few moments away. Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich are being held to a 1-1 draw by Augsburg. If it stays that way then Dortmund will go five points clear at the top come full time. I'll keep you updated!
Half time at the Volkswagen arena and Dortmund are 1-0 ahead thanks to a goal from Lewandowski. Could this be their 23rd game unbeaten? Join me for the second half in 15 minutes.
45' + 1'
Into the first minute of the added two.
GREAT SAVE BY BENAGLIO!! Some very neat passing from Dortmund ends with Gundogan finding a large amount of space on the top of the box. He aims for the low corner but Benaglio dives down to it and turns the ball behind.
After some lovely interplay down the right for Dortmund they do not manage to get another effort in on goal. Wolfsburg are doing well to keep Kuba and Piszczek quiet so far but as more yellow shirts came over they were overrun for a moment.
Benaglio gets the all clear and get the game back underway. No doubt we will get a few added minutes at the end of the half due to the break in play there.
Yellow Card Ashkan Dejagah
Things are getting pretty heated at the Volkswagen Arena. Moments after Dejagah is booked for dissent as he got a bit too close to the referee, Gundogan flattens Benaglio in the area as he tries to latch onto Kehl's ball. The goalkeeper is down and receiving treatment at the moment.
Kuba puts in an awful ball that is headed away by the first defender. Not the best delivery from either side today.
Josue puts in a blatant body check on Gundogan as the midfielder looks to burst forward with another give-and-go. The Brazilian makes sure he is not there to receive the return pass but now Dortmund have a free kick and an opportunity to get the ball in the box.
Dortmund are not happy with that! A one-two between Gundogan and Perisic should have put the midfielder through but the referee's assistant raises his flag as Lewandowski was in an offside position. The striker did not touch the ball and was not interfering, so play should really have continued.
Kagawa is struggling to pull the strings in a highly congested midfield at the moment. There is minimal space in which he can operate, but given the chance he will make something happen. It could well be a part of the Wolfsburg game plan in order to stifle Dortmund's main creative outlet.
Dortmund take the ball up the other end as they look to avoid the hosts building any momentum. A corner comes in from the right but Benaglio gets a pair of safe hands to it under minimal pressure from the visiting attackers.
HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN!! Wolfsburg spurn two chances to go ahead. Schafer does superbly to cut in on the left and dink a pass to Mandzukic. The Croatian stabs it at goal but Weidenfeller makes a superb save with his leg. The ball then falls to Helmes but he fails to hit the target in a half-open goal, shanking the ball just wide of the post.
Yellow Card Alexander Madlung
Frustrations clearly showing among the Wolfsburg defenders now. Madlung goes in on Lewandowski from behind in a completely unnecessary challenge on the half-way line and earns himself a yellow card.
Assist Ivan Perisic
Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!! LEWANDOWSKI!! Forget that last question! A great ball by Kagawa releases Perisic down the left and the Croatian puts in the perfect cross for Lewandowski to slide into the net. Great positioning from the Pole but Wolfsburg will disappointed with that after a great start.
Lewandowski spurned a great early chance here and it is not the first time he's failed to hit the target in such a situation. Is Klopp right to stick with the Pole or should Barrios be seeing more game time? Let me know via Twitter @thwebber.
Wolfsburg are doing really well in the midfield here. Josue and Polak putting in patient yet combative displays so far. If they keep winning the ball back in key areas then that could play a key role in the result of this game.
The hosts are getting a lot of joy down the right side at the moment. As Schmelzer attacks he is leaving a lot of space which is being exploited by Dejagah and Helmes. Wolfsburg are still yet to capitalise and forge a clear-cut opportunity.
After a good spell of pressure for Wolfsburg they earn a corner on the left side. It is taken short and Helmes manages to get his head on the cross but it lacks power and precision as it rolls wide of Weidenfeller's goal.
Gundogan fires in the corner and Hummels rises highest to get his head on the ball. It looks to be heading for the corner of the net but there is not enough dip on it and it can only drop onto the roof of the net.
That is something that Wolfsburg will not want to see again. Kuba finds acres of space on the right and tries to stand the ball up for Lewandowski at the back post. His cross is too deep and Wolfsburg counter but Helmes fails to find a team-mate in the box from out on the right.
What a waste! Dejagah at least clears the first defender this time but he also watches it rise well over the goal to. Not the best of attempts from the Iran international there.
Yellow Card Neven Subotic
Schafer storms down the left flank and manages to poke the ball away from Subotic just outside the area. The Serbian is booked for his extremely late challenge and now Wolfsburg have a great chance from the free kick.
WHAT A CHANCE!!! Kagawa slips a great pass through to Lewandowski and the Pole cuts in front of his defender and then looks to place the ball into the bottom corner on the other side of the goal. As Benaglio rushes out to close the angle, Lewandowski ends up sending his shot well wide of the post.
Good pressure from Mandzukic wins the ball back in the Dortmund half for the hosts. It works its way out to Dejagah on the right side but he fails to get a cross in as he is closed down by two defenders. Still some bright signs for Wolfsburg.
Kagawa is freed down the left side of the box and he drives for the byeline. Polak comes across and uses his strength to move the Japanese off the ball. He falls to the floor and looks around for a penalty but the referee only gives a goal kick.
A free kick for Wolfsburg about 30 yards out from goal. He attempts to find one of his team-mates in the box but his delivery is poor and fails to beat the first man.
A calm start to the game so far. Dortmund enjoying some easy possession and Hummels tries to play a long pass up to Jakub "Kuba" Blaszczykowski but Benaglio comes out to collect the ball.
We are underway at the Volkswagen Arena!
The teams are making their way out onto the pitch now. Will something give today? One of this teams could well be saying goodbye to their current unbeaten run. It will be by no means easy for Dortmund; Helmes has scored six goals in his last six games for Wolfsburg.
So the main news in regards to the Dortmund line-up today is the displacement of Grosskreutz by Perisic on the left wing. Klopp once again picks the same defence that have played together in every single match this year. That surely makes a big contribution to the current unbeaten streak, which is the longest in the club's history.
As always you can get involved with the action by sending me your thoughts, comments and predictions to @thwebber on Twitter. In the reverse of this fixture earlier this season Dortmund earned an impressive 5-1 win. What are we expecting today guys?
Dortmund are enjoying a fairly healthy unbeaten run too. They have now gone 22 games without defeat in the Bundesliga. However, Bayern still managed to close the gap at the top to just three points after Stuttgart held the reigning champions to a 4-4 draw last week. With just six games left this season, the pressure steps up another notch.
An improvement in results for Felix Magath's men - four wins from their last five games - has seen Wolfsburg rise to ninth position with a Europa League spot a serious possibility. They are tied with Stuttgart, Leverkusen and Werder Bremen on 40 points from sixth position.
And now for the league leaders, Dortmund: Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Kehl, Gundogan; "Kuba" Blaszczykowski, Kagawa, Perisic; Lewandowski. Subs: Langerak, Owomoyela, Lowe, Grosskreutz, Leitner, Bender, Barrios.
The team news is in, here is the Wolfsburg line-up: Benaglio; Trasch, Madlung, Felipe, Rodriguez; Dejagah, Josue, Polak, Schafer; Helmes, Mandzukic. Subs: Hitz, Russ, Hasebe, Jiracek, Vieirinha, Jonsson, Sio.
